Since starting meds I have gained about 5 pounds per year on average… Maybe a little more now that the last month has come by. I was always in that gray area of overweight but not visually evident overweight. But now it’s starting to be visually Evident.
I will limit carbs

Loosing weight is all about math. You need to be in deficit with calories, however you do it. But the best way is to eat less and to watch what you eat (you need nutritious and fulling foods low in calories), and you need to be physically active in some way.
Now explain this back to me hahahah

I need proteins like peanut butter and nuts and meat, then fruits and vegetables. Limit carbs. I gotta burn more than I consume. So my 5 mile per day walking habit will suffice but I need to stop eating sugary cereal between every meal…I think
Just remember, a healthy body needs about 50% of your daily intake to come from carbs. Eating too much protein can definitely make you sick.

Yes, yes I feel you told me this last time I tried to go on a diet. Well thanks for telling me again because I had forgot.
Fortunately I eat so much fruit and refuse to believe it can be unhealthy and those are hidden carbs there. But I’ll keep it all in my mind.

Fruits and vegetables are great sources of nutrients!

Don’t do it! If you get all cut and stuff it just makes me look even fatter. That’s it. Everyone has to eat more carbs not less! And no more riding around in the pretty countryside on your bikes! Bring that post about the donut cereal back!

It’s actually much better for your health and weight if you start running. Walking is not efficient exercise and not as useful as running for losing weight. And this goes beyond how many calories you lose. If you burn 500 calories either way, it is still much better for your health and weight when you burn those calories by running.

I’m about to diet too, going to start the Wahls protocol that a doctor used to put her own multiple sclerosis in remission, and it has helped thousands of other people overcome their various autoimmune issues.
Which antipsychotic are you on that you only gained 5 pounds a year?
Abilify. Supposedly “weight neutral”. But time will defy that! By weight neutral do they mean you don’t gain 40 lbs the first 6 months??

That was very good advice.
The only people who should walk at a normal pace for exercise are those who can’t run or walk any faster.

I guess, that.
Paliperidone made me gain 40 pounds in 6 months roughly, then I found some measure of weight stability but I’m still gaining like 2 pounds a month at best.
Clozapine was by far the worst for me. Only took it for a month and gained 30 pounds.

Aw, Pix.
I hope you get to walk for 50 years more.
Ok I’m starting tomorrow with that speedy walk. I need to do weights too, because i’m so flabby, but I’ll leave it for some other time. I’m already dieting and have lost few kg, but it’s long long road for me (have to lose 35kg ).
It’s time, let’s do it!
