Then I made some roasted veggies for me to eat with my lunches the next several days.
Next, I prepared a homemade Jamaican Jerk marinade for our chicken we’re having for dinner tonight and got the chicken cleaned and marinating.
Then I made batches of homemade, well balanced meals for my elderly dog who can no longer eat kibble.
However, I have discovered my elderly Shih Tsu will eat a little kibble - he just swallows it while. I need to ask the dog nutritionist I learned from if that’s ok for him to do. It can’t be easy on his tummy I’m thinking. He just can’t chew kibble due to his advanced dental disease
In 2 hours I’ll be back in the kitchen cooking the chicken and making the potatoes.
wowee, good for you !! I wish I could cook more but our budget doesn’t allow it much. just spaghetti and northern beans, stuff like that…hope your dog is ok.
I spend $140/week for a family of 4, plus my dog. I don’t have a lot of money either. But I plan all food weekly based on sales and coupons. It really helps. It just means I have to prepare my food and stick to the plan. I plan pizza one day per week, and I still manage to have a Coke Zero almost everyday!
@jukebox , Store deals are weekly. So I collect coupons plus make weekly food plans based on sales and coupons. Sometimes deals in the store are better than using coupons so you have to do your homework. But if you make your own food, and plan it all out, you can really save a lot of money.
Yeah, it helps to make weekly food plans. Also, save money by having a couple of meatless dinners each week.
Also, buy fruits and vegetables that are in season.
And have breakfast for dinner once a week. Even if it’s just cold cereal and milk and toast or an English muffin or pancakes. Pancakes are a lot cheaper than a steak and potatoes.
$140 a week is actually pretty good for a family of four. Buy things in bulk like family packs of meat and serve some and freeze the rest.
And dried beans, pasta and rice are cheap and you can find a million recipes online which use them.
