I feel the need to apologize to you all - I had an extended absence from the forum, then I came back earlier this year, but then I’ve been away again. It’s not you - it’s me - I got my diagnosis changed in March to schizoaffective bipolar type from depressive type, which explains a LOT. I have basically been on one long manic episode this year, with some mixed state rapid cycling mixed in for good measure. But mostly manic and out of control.
I’ve been in med change hell with all three of my meds - antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, and antidepressant - including a bout of particularly bad Fetzima-induced mania that lasted a total of about a month. I’ve had multiple med changes and adjustments, both higher and then lower when side effects kicked my butt.
Right now I am dealing with elevated prolactin due to Invega, and panicking about what my psych nurse practitioner will do to resolve it when I see her on Thursday. I had my blood work done last week, and my family nurse practitioner insists on an intervention. I am starting supplements, and will ask my psych NP about the possibility of adding metformin. I am hoping I don’t have to come down from Invega 12 mg, as I am getting good psychotic symptom control from it. I’m terrified to lose my psychotic control as well as dealing with this mania that is still ugly. I had a bad time on Abilify, so I am refusing the low dose Abilify option if it is raised.
so yeah, I am pretty much a mess! I don’t mean to be flaky with my forum time, but sometimes I am just way too sick and impaired to keep my head together. I am trying to be more consistent but am sorry if coming and going is disruptive, it’s not my intention at all.
