Awkward greeting

Whenever I like go out with my friends (i’m fifteen years old) and they tell me guys are coming I cancel or am SO scared to go. I start to freak the freak out and my hands get sweaty or my stomach hurts and stuff. I actually enjoy talking to guys, It’s the greeting part that scares me! Like do I hug them do i shake their hand? Not just boys everyone i really hate myself for that. Does anyone else have this problem and if so, how do you deal with it?

Hi. Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, being terrified of the opposite sex is a rite of passage for teenagers. You’ll eventually learn that boys are pretty much the same as girls, just with slightly different hormones and ways of expressing themselves. For greeting people you don’t know, simply nodding your head and saying hey seems to be popular with my teenage boy and his friends.

Yeah, like @Ninjastar said, its common for young people at your age to be nervous about meeting or being around the opposite sex.

The guys you meet are most likely nervous about meeting or talking to you too. I find that just saying "hi’ works wonders in meeting new people.

You don’t need to say any fancy, clever opening line to meet people at age 15. As you get older and more comfortable and gain experience being around guys you can expand your repitoure of what to say.

I don’t think I ever got over it, it just happens that when I hung out with my friends girls would never be present so I never had to deal with it.
