So I was discussing the autism quotient with another member here, and began to wonder what my family’s autism quotient would be. So I’m going to ask them to participate and take the online test. I don’t know if they actually will, I’m pretty sure my brother will and that will be interesting because I’m fairly certain he is autistic. I know my dad is so I hope he takes it. My mom, I don’t think she is, but my theory on her is she’s an alcoholic borderline/narcissist combo.
I know arm chair diagnosing is not the greatest thing to do but I’m honestly pretty good at it, I never tell the person unless they specifically ask me.
Anyway I’m going to post the results here and if anyone refuses.
My score is usually 42, but today it was 43.
If anyone wants to take it, feel free to post your results…
I’m suspected autistic but my psychiatrist says I’m too old to be tested and I would have to pay for it myself. So not worth it.
39 oof… ive been diagnosed though
I paid for my diagnosis out of pocket. He had a sliding scale, though not a lot. It was $600 for 3 sessions and the tests/report. Definitely was worth it to me, he specifically recommended vocational rehab on my report and I used the report to get vocational rehab, they pay for all of my schooling, including a brand new DLSR camera for a photography class. VR can also help people find better jobs if you can work.
That’s awesome! I tried to get into voc rehab several years ago, but they wouldn’t take me because of my physical health. They said I wasn’t employable. Turns out they were right.
Taken from my autism assessment, yes my name is Matthew. It’s a common name so i don’t care:
Results suggest
Matthew has at least average intellectual function with no significant differences between his
verbal and nonverbal abilities. It is important to note that these results seemed somewhat lower
than expected, given Matthew’s ability to complete his education with all that he has been
struggling with and manage to complete a degree in philosophy and three areas of minor studies.
Given that he has had several hospitalizations and medication changes in the past several months,
his mental health issues and medication adjustments may have hindered his performance on the
cognitive testing. It will be important to continue to monitor and assess Matthew’s cognitive
potential over time to help him develop a realistic and accurate picture of his true abilities and to
better develop occupational goals for himself.
**Your score was 37 out of a possible 50.
**Scores in the 33-50 range indicate significant Autistic traits (Autism).
I’ve noticed that those from the USA are far more likely to have a cognitive assessment as part of the process compared to those of us in the UK.
The same goes for mental illness.
It is pretty standard where I live for sz (not UK). For milder forms of autism at least some cognitive testing is required.
You would think cognitive assessment is important part of clinical picture?
That would make sense.
I got 35 shrugs
