I have a difficult time focusing on my reading - I dont know, but I think that the meds play a role in me not being able to focus so well.
I found out that my Sister in law listens to novels through Audiobooks.
My cell phone has this feature where I can order Audiobooks - I am wondering if this would be a good option for me.
Anyone else use Audiobooks? Seems like this could work out - I think that I will try it out soon
I have to use audio books as I don’t have the concentration to read. My phone can speak text as well, so I can get it to read pdf files that I download from the internet.
I´ve been thinking of starting with that as well! Haven´t read a book since I got ill. Can´t focus at all and I don´t know if it´s the medication (I hope so) or cognitive impairment as a result of the psychosis… I try to read some poems though, it´s easier some how.
This is why I thought that it might be a good option for me, I just dont have the focus or patience to read novels, but I enjoy a good novel, especially the classics.
I never travel, but I think that me listening to Audiobooks might be a good choice for me - Reading long novels is a struggle - could be the psychosis as well
Whenever I try to read I find myself drifting off thinking of what I just read makes me think . I am always loosing my place and keep having to re-read so audio books are best for me. I find that the narrators if they are good speakers can keep you interested. I like college lessons narrated by college professors some of which I find are down right annoying in their mannerisms like hissing sounds every time they pronounce an “S” while others are excellent speakers that keep me focused and engaged. I usually play them on old portable CD players that I used to find in the thrift stores in good shape, real cheep. I get the lessons at the library and they are free of charges. They are from “The Modern Scholar” series and “The Great Courses” on Tape series also.
I like audio-books. I’ve “read” nonfiction (“The Elegant Universe” by Brian Greene in science … “The Story of Civilization” by Will and Ariel Durant in history is what I’m into now). Also Bukowsky reading some of his poetry, and Alan Watts lecturing on Taoism, Buddhism and comparative religion. And several other audio-books. I haven’t listened to any novels though.
