Atypicals and mood symptoms

This is a question for those who are schizoaffective/ have a sizeable mood component to their illness and take an atypical antipsychotic but not a mood stabiliser like lithium/lamotrigine etc.

The atypical helps your mood-

  • a lot
  • quite a lot
  • a little
  • not at all

Although not bipolar or schizoaffective “mood swings” are listed as a symptom. Since being on a regular atypical(consta) I have not noticed much, if any, mood fluctuation. Mood has been rather stable if below baseline-? mild depression.
I wonder if the atypical is regulating my moods or whether the “mood swings” have just naturally burnt out over time.

Atypicals help a lot against my mood symptoms. I take two atypicals and no mood stabilizers.

I am currently on Risperdal, it is extremely effective as a Mood Stabilizer.

I am not on another Mood Stabilizer.

i’m on a mood stabilizer now and on two anti psychotics but before I quit meds and was just on latuda it worked great for mood stabilizer. still kind of does a good job along with my other meds.

Helps – and certainly helped to make the following possible – but did no where near (by itself to) what this stuff did:
