Metformin because I’m prediabetic and am hoping it’ll help me lose a little weight. It’s only known to help with a 5% weight loss in one year but it’s better than nothing.

I can’t afford the other weight loss drugs. But Metformin is free with my insurance

What dose did you start on?

I’m taking 500 mg for 1 week, then 1000 mg daily after

I take 500mg metformin daily. I have not lost weight, but I have stopped gaining. Keep in mind that my diet is very poor, so that probably affects my ability to lose.

I was on the same dosage. My personal experience was that I lost weight at first then I stopped so I quit it after about 8 months.

@cathart1c im eating 1600 calories a day and still gaining so I’m hoping it helps.

Metformin can help lose some of the weight gained from ap’s but doesnt work for everyone.

Im taking it and have lost about 28 pounds, im on the max 2000 mg (but im also diabetic.)

Oh wow. 28 pounds is quite a bit. Did you restrict calories or do anything along with taking Metformin?

Thats the good thing about it, i didnt do anything different no exercise or diet change, just lost 7pounds for each 500mg i took.

Also i had zero side effects from this med. I hope it works for you.
