In the mass chaos of the world
I have been prepping and currently I have a couple of weeks canned food in surplus.
It’s reported the 1 billion people are this year in chronic starvation
Nope. If the world is meant to end then I wanna go with it.
No just taking things one day at a time
I have contributed a tiny amount from my vast wasteful existence, and my parents actively grow a garden, among other steps to put food on the table outside the grocer.
My dad prepared a while ago for being prepared off grid, so we at least have running water, lights on and means to survive, but not it is not the same as a convenient life on the grid.
I used to worry and let my mind over-exaggerate what I needed to do in the turbulent events my imagination predicts are coming, soon, always sooner, almost here, just around the corner, etc…
I like the reverse metaphor: “A sheep in wolf’s cloth”. Reminds me that all threats will unravel themselves and the future is in my hands, regardless.
I have found some neat things in the alternate prepper world, such as the Gasifier. If I had mental health and initiative, then I would like to build one.
In mad max land I can run my motorcycle on wood chips, assuming I am still alive.
We dont live forever
I have a tub of dried food in case of emergencies.
I grew up in poverty and I have been homeless**. We have about six months’ worth of non-perishable goods including canned and preserved meats. Also few week’s worth of bottled water. Both of our vehicles are modified with oversized alternators and we have large power inverters installed in the trunks that are connected to the power system making the vehicles mobile generators.
I’m not prepping for an apocalypse, but life has shown me that it can go sideways fast and I don’t like getting caught out. We’re good the next time we have a layoff or there’s an ice storm that takes out the power, or whatever.
(**I’m also an ex-Mormon and it stockpiling food is ingrained into us.)
No but I buy a years worth of toilet paper when it’s on sale.
According to this you should of been prepping 16 years ago.
If you live in a developed country you will probably be fine.
