Anyone think sugar can cause anxiety?

I have been indulging in sweet treats for the past 2 weeks. Further to this I have had awful anxiety from around the same time.

Don’t know if the two are linked

I normally have no sugar so the two events may be linked. But I often turn to sweet food when I am feeling anxious as well

Anyone ever notice a relationship between sugar and anxiety?

I noticed slightly reduced anxiety after quitting drinking coke (I drank it everyday). I don’t know how much it was the caffeine or the sugar. But in my experience, eating a diet with lower glycemic index can potentially reduce anxiety.

I don’t know, sugary foods and drinks have the opposite effect on me.

I’m usually calmer and in a better mood after consuming sweets

I have developed a sugar habit. It improves my mood for a short while, but then my mood crashes. I’ve always craved sugar, from the time I was little.

You can blame this on the early human primates. They ate ripened fruit instead of unripe fruit because the ripe fruits had more energy because of the higher sugar content. We evolved with sugar.

It does for me…sugar and processed carbs. I feel panicked after eating them. I also found a study recently that antioxidants help with anxiety so ive been trying to eat more fruits, vegetables, and a little orange juice.

Yea because sugar makes you more mentally stimulated. Some mentally stimulation is good but too much I think makes you anxious.

I would say choose fruit if you can… It’ll give you sugar to pick you up without takkng you over the moon

I take two table spoons of sugar on my oat meal every day else I don’t use sugar. Besides of that I only eat potatoes and veggies or spaghetti and veggies. i don’t feel anything psychological by consuming that amount of sugar.
