Anyone planning on having children. I’m coming off meds at the moment. In 7 months I’ll be off meds. Anyone else have schizophrenia and planning on having children?

I have a gf of 2 years and we’re planning on having a boy and a girl in about 8 years.

The best decision I ever made was deciding I didn’t want kids. There’s no way I would have been able to look after them and also I could have passed schizophrenia onto them.

I’m exhausted after playing with my young nieces for about 2 hours every week when they visit.

Kids need attention 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Have you spoken to any experts / counsellors about this ?

No I haven’t spoken to any experts about this. My psychaiatrist doesn’t think I’ll have another breakdown as my psychotic epsiodes were weed induced so hopefully I’ll be fit and healthy.

Kids are hard work :sweat:. My daughter was so hard headed I just wanted to smack her sometimes. She’s 21 and still hard headed. I never knew how to properly discipline her. Nothing I ever did worked

The prospect of having a hard headed kid (or two) is terrifying. Congrats on keeping your daughter out of trouble though!
