Did you develop addiction and hypersexuality issues from it? I did from Abilify (Aripiprazole).
Rexulti (Brexpiprazole) is similar so I wonder if it does the same.
So when is rexulti on the market in UK? Anyone know?
They say and I read that its an improved version of Abilify. I am willing to try it and even change my psychiatrist bcz he doesn’t want to prescribe it or change my meds, he got mad at me.
Lol y did he get mad at ya?
He told me to stop playing with my meds and supplements, he meant stop asking for a med change and talking about supplements. I tried most antipsychotics available in Canada. I also tried an antideprressant, Wellbutrin.
I don’t wanna try rexulti Tbh although it may just be amazing. Reason being, it is super new med so peeps dunno the long long long term effects it may have
Forget it lol The FDA said Rexulti and Abilify both can cause addiction and hypersexuality issues:
"The Institute for Safe Medication Practices reports that Abilify and Rexulti interact with dopamine receptors in a manner that can lead to significant impulse control disorders in some patients. When the active ingredient in Rexulti, brexpiprazole, blocks dopamine at the D2 receptor, it stimulates the D3 receptor. The stimulation of the D3 receptor causes the patient to engage in compulsive behaviors. The dopamine system essentially releases pleasurable sensations that encourage the users to engage in activities that can result in compulsive behavior.
In February 2018, the FDA issued a safety warning for Rexulti stating that patients can become involved in compulsive gambling and other compulsive behaviors while taking the antipsychotic drug.

Oh man, sounds like abilify then… Not too surprised.
That’s why my psychiatrist refused to prescribe it to me, he said I will be compulsive, have addiction and hypersexuality issues just like Abilify. Good thing I trusted him and didn’t change my psychiatrist.
Yea they do know a few things. We gotta really take them seriously but also do our own research on the side
From the FDA pdf:
“5.7 Pathological Gambling and Other Compulsive Behaviors
Post-marketing case reports suggest that patients can experience intense urges, particularly for gambling, and the inability to control these urges while taking REXULTI. Other compulsive urges, reported less frequently, include: sexual urges, shopping, eating or binge eating, and other impulsive or compulsive behaviors. Because patients may not recognize these behaviors as abnormal, it is important for prescribers to ask patients or their caregivers specifically about the development of new or intense gambling urges, compulsive sexual urges, compulsive shopping, binge or compulsive eating, or other urges while being treated with REXULTI. In some cases, although not all, urges were reported to have stopped when the dose was reduced or the medication was discontinued. Compulsive behaviors may result in harm to the patient and others if not recognized. Consider dose reduction or stopping the medication if a patient develops such urges.”
I’ve been thinking of asking for that. It is supposed to compliment other antidepressants well. I only experience brief, short bouts of depression.
Thank you for that information! I’m borderline compulsive myself. I don’t need something that increases my urges.
I had mild gambling issues and a regular libido on Abilify. I also had massive akathisia. On Rexulti I still play the lottery a bit too much, but my libido plummeted for 12 or so months. It is back to normal now though. Very rare mild akathisia. For me, Rexulti is a happy half way mark between Abilify and Olanzapine.
they look almost the same structure wise.
Made me anxious, dizzy, and sapped my energy. Didn’t work as well for positive symptoms as my Geodon did. Nagged my doc into switching me back.
