I went from Atlanta to Philadelphia recently and it was a trip almost everyone was African American, met a cool lady, had a nice time, but I couldn’t help but notice myself as an extreme minority. Anyway I wouldn’t do it again the train is rough to try to sleep in. Unless you get a bed and i think that can be pricey
I’ve always thought it would be fun to go on one of those long train trips, especially if you can afford your own sleeper cabin. It really depends on the country, the quality of the train and the train route though.
I took train from toronto to halifax last summer. Stopped over in montreal. Took a couple days. Not sure how long. I slept very little in the seat of the train. Very uncomfortable experience.
The longest trip I’ve taken by train is from Nice (South of France) to Brussels. It’s about 1000 km or 600 miles. It took about 7 hours. No sleeper cabins though.
In January I took the Renfe High Speed Train from Barcelona to Madrid. It’s about 400 miles and took under 3 hours.
I hope that those who pay £5000 have a guaranteed seat on the train.
I used to commute from my hometown Leuven to Brussels. It’s about 25 minutes and usually you don’t have a seat and have to stand up. I hated it. Luckily I only did it for 4 months.
I went from Portland Maine to North Carolina and it sucked, the ride was bumpy and I couldn’t sleep. Also the chairs that you sit in are small, atleast they were for me but I’m 6’4" and 300 lbs.
