Anyone lift weights on benzos?

Ik they’re CNS depressants but I’ve had some caffeine and I want to hit chest and back today.

Not unless you count lifting my butt out of bed

I don’t take benzos. Is there an issue with taking benzos and working out? I personally can’t lift weights really any more cause of my back but I do work out.

i would recommend it, might feel kinda counterproductive taking a sedative then doing higher physical activity

Benzos slow the body and mind down pretty much. I usually take Lorazepam to sleep.

I did the workout.

When I’m home I’ll be back on no benzos. Unless I need it for sleep.

Hope your back heals up man. :folded_hands:

Oh I see wow. I never really was in benzos for long so I didn’t know that. Glad you got the workout done man. My back is 80% healed now. Can workout and such without a problem now luckily.

You would be fine, but I’d wait until after the workout. Sometimes I’ll get wired a couple hours after working out and have trouble falling alseep.

Like lift but years since I got off benzos. Really not a good option for sleep as they might get you to sleep but not really long term and there’s issues with dependance and such. You need more to get same affect which is why they are increasingly harder to get out here.

Much better options and exercise which your doing is so much better long term. Weight bearing exercise is really good for mobility no matter what your age so keep on keeping on and talk to your doctor about that sleep stuff.

Have you looked at doing static contraction workouts? It would let you work specific muscles or groups without putting a load on your back.

I haven’t, maybe I should. Just generally won’t lift weights any more tho. Every time I injure my back it’s a good 3 months I’m out so not worth it. Will just do cardio and calisthenics instead.

It shouldn’t matter unless you’re entirely zonked out on the things. I’ve taken benzos before the gym and it didn’t hurt. Are you taking them to deal with anxiety around the gym?

I find swimming to really help

Waiting on my test results tho before I renew my membership

My understanding is low impact is better if you have problems

Doing great dude thanks for asking. I did two 30 minute walks today for a total of 1 hour so far. I’m breaking recent records here so all is looking good.

I used to strength train then last summer I hurt my back and shoulder for 2 months and I have to take clonazapam everyday

Anxiety and sensory issues on the ward

Helps if you’re restless or having extreme anxiety in there on the onset of our illnesses. I took 1 every 3 days to commit to continuing. Now don’t even think about it. I got other meds now though. It was very important to help me stay in the gym and not leave early, That kind’ve stayed still 10 years down the line, but I dunno about u. Anything is fine taken lifting weights, I found. You do you.
