I consider myself fairly good at guitar, but there’s one thing I’ve never understood how people can do it.
Shredding, playing really fast. I don’t get how people can play so fast jumping from string to string without stumbling and screwing up. I’ve played guitar for roughly 16 years and I could never learn to play extremely fast. Sure, I can do pull-offs and hammer-ons and “fake” playing fast, but I can’t hit the strings very fast with my strumming hand.
Im not sure how to gauge myself. I would describe my playing more as smooth than fast. Let me know what you think, Ive got a vid up on the musicians thread.
I didn’t know what it was like to love a musical instrument until I got a mandolin. I have played guitar all my life and only liked it a lot. I play intermediate classical pieces and the blues.
When I was younger, I used to burn, my heroes were Yngvie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai, and a million other “neo-classical fusion” guys who are long forgotten now. Now I’m working the bugs back out of my system, a decade or two of lassitude can wreck havoc on your playing skills. But I’m working on it
Ive been playing since i was 13 and im 30 now. I dont really think im good for how long ive been playing, i have dexterity issues sp i cant play fast either. I prefer to play rhythm. Im trying to learn cello now
