After I divorced I had to give up a lot of items. I sold, gave away and donated a lot of things. I still buy some items but I don’t feel as attached to them. I don’t own a bed but instead use a trifold mattress futon which I can easily transport. I have a small 3 drawer plastic dresser that holds my underwear and socks, gadgets and health stuff. I keep all my shirts and pants/shorts on hangers that takes up half a 6ft wide closet. I live with a relative so I don’t really need my own furniture other than my portable shower chair.

It’s a lifelong process and I try to regularly purge items on a monthly basis. I still buy some things if I think they will make me happy but I don’t tend to hang on to things as much thinking maybe I will use them again someday. I had a large piano keyboard that I kind of miss but the mini Casio one I have is still really cool and I have a really nice ukelele. I don’t own a TV or really watch it.

I remember my dad when he was dying in a hospice nursing home and pretty much all he had was a few family photos, a rosary and a pocket radio tuned to a classical music station.

I’m not a minimalist but I travel light. I have clothes for a week, 2 jackets, 2 jeans and 2 pairs of sportshoes.

I also have the minimum furniture…some are borrowed.

I think so, i need the overview over the things around me, must know where the needed thing is.

Read too many Zen Books i think…

If a minimalist needs 3 full-size moving trucks each time they relocate, then, yes.

Not a minimalist, but maybe below average on spending.

Most of my furniture is second hand, and the rest isn’t expensive stuff. I used to collect dvd’s which has pretty much come to a end. Pretty much all of it bought second hand. I have two or three big boxes of them to give away to salvation army.

I’ve spended a bit on vinyl because I love music and the vinyl sound. 80-90% is second hand though. This is coming to a end as well. I figure I have enough.

Well…I guess people who are on benefits more or less have to be minimalist if they want or not.

Uh, Y & N…

I used to be a minimalist. But not anymore with a partner 2 year old and baby on the way.
