I’ve never tried to give up sugar. I assume you’re talking about products with sugar in them.

I eat a lot of blueberries and cherries. that’s the only sugar I get and it satisfies me. I don’t think I could ever cut out fructose…but sugar I have no problem with anymore. just when I was younger.

yes including trace amounts in savoury food
basically not on the ingredients list and not added

my husband seems to need sugar a few times a day as well - with little effect

this is a battle i am currently not winning

I tried giving it up in tea… Didn’t last long. I do drink sparkling water instead of sugary frizzy drinks.

I’ve been trying, but it’s tough. Especially since my mother likes to make baked goods…oh well

but since then gained it all back
age 43, bmi 31

blueberries and cherries are satisfying
do you live where they grow?

I am extremely addicted. Highly calorific foods light up same region as some addictive drugs. Its a major challenge in my life. I try my best to do abstinence from added sugar cos Im an addict. But already today I caved in cos it helps me sleep n just makes me feel normal. I’m not gonna stop trying though. I also worry bout long term health there’s so many serious diseases out there

well not really but kind of. Indiana isn’t known for cherries but Michigan is.

me and mom have planted some cherries in the backyard but they haven’t yielded fruit yet. also I thought I was going to be able to grow all my own blueberries, but they require a soil amendment as they like more acidic soils. I have planted 5 blueberry plants, they’re 2 years old and budded this spring. I’m going to wait and see what becomes of them before I plant anymore. I estimate I would need 150 lbs just for myself. I use frozen.

if I can’t grow blueberries I’m going to try erect blackberries which grow in my climate zone and soil. either way I think i’d buy blueberries at the store, they’re my favorite.

I feel like i can’t do it

i know i can’t give up trying

it’s not sustainable this kind of eating i have been doing in the last year.

my doc wants to try me on a different ap
i’ve been on a typical old one for about 12 years - time to see if aripiprizole works although that can also be a gainer - probably find it easier than on this one

It makes me feel like a weak person not being able to control my appetite.
I’m on abilify… But yes I’ve heard its meant to generally be weight neutral so hopefully u will be fine, at least better than the typical.

Good night.
And good luck with the med change

Just don’t eat. I know, easier said than done.

But to avoid sugar, which is really really tasty, you just have to have a lot of will power. Sugar is tasty and inexpensive and everywhere. You just have to accept that sugar is unhealthy and avoid it as much as you can.

Eat protein instead or try chewing sugarless gum during the time when cravings are worst.

I have a problem with sugar as well. It existed before I got on an AP but the AP exacerbated it.

I’m tackling this incessant craving with the help of artificially sweetened substances: Like the poster above me mentioned, sugarless gum helps; I also drink a lot of diet soda (I know how bad for us it’s supposed to be, but…).

You just gotta find what works for you. Best of luck!

I have a bad sugar addiction; I’m trying to combat it with a vegan lifestyle, focusing on sweet fruits so I don’t feel the need to eat it in processed products.
