Anyone have AuDHD here

Out of curiosity. I have autism and suspected ADHD so I might be. I’ve experienced psychosis , so I’m not 100 percent sure meds will help or make my psychosis worse. Someone mentioned that you can get non-stimulants but I’ve seen even they can cause psychosis to get worse.

I would think that a non stimulant would be ok

They are not antidepressants

You should be fine @anon25873142

Yes but it’s still a possibility but I guess a lot of meds can have that as a possible side effect I just have to take the risk

I’m one of them. I do have a prescribed stimulant medication, and it does help my symptoms without aggravating my psychosis issues. The nonstimulant medication made me psychotic. Every body is different, and every brain is different. And my brain is VERY different . But it’s all about risk/benefit. I had no history of violent behavior when psychotic, and I had a strong history of listening when people tell me my judgment is compromised, so my doctor thought it was worth trying. For me, the hallucinations turned out to be caused by sleep deprivation and too much sensory input. The stimulant medication helps to regulate my sensory input and my sleep cycle, so it works for me.

Yes, almost all the non-stimulant ADHD medications caused me psychosis/mania.

And, the stimulant one sent me on Clozapine.

Based on what I went through on adhd meds I don’t think it’s worth it for anyone I’m not a doctor but If the aggression and psychosis happens to even a single other person I believe the meds need to be taken off the market sorry but that’s what I believe based on my experience

Also I have extreme doubts that it’s real because of what I’ve seen I’ve never seen anybody with “adhd” actually benefit from meds

I am on atomoxetine and guanfecine which are both non-stimulant adhd meds. They work pretty good i think. Stimulant ones are just speed basically. Medical meth haha.

These days i would only take like dexamphetamine or ritalin or anything like that for a good night on the town haha. Not to pay attention better in life.

Oh I definitely have! I have known people whose lives turned around with the right adhd meds. I also knew someone with adhd who was addicted to stimulants and it’s ruining his life

I’m happy for the people it benefited but it was nothing short of a nightmare I begged and begged to get off that absolute garbage scam I say how I feel IT WAS A SCAM im trying not to swear and be polite but that sh*t nearly killed me and my brother when he took it all he did was cry ALL DAY i don’t believe the risk of psychosis in general is worth it

@AwesomeFisherman it seems like you have vivid and upsetting memories every time you interact with posts about adhd. Perhaps it would be better for you to skip these threads in the future? You clearly had a horrific experience, and would prefer to put it behind you.

I have ADHD and I take Modafinil every morning before work to help focus. I don’t take it on days I don’t work. Modafinil is a stimulant that was made to help with narcolepsy daytime sleepiness. But it works great to help me stay awake and focus

I agree I get so upset about what happened to me it just makes me feel enraged it’s best I should not even click the thread because I’m still bitter and it’s been over a decade since I last took it there are plenty of other topics

i agree with this. psychosis is a lot more dangerous and feels a lot worse than adhd symptoms. i used to be on ritalin, concerta, and also at other times adderall. my dr told me its poison to me and to never take it again. never took it again. it helped me focus but id rather not be able to focus than lose my mind.
