Is anyone on ADD/ADHD medications? And, which ones don’t worsen psychosis? Do non-stimulants medications work ?
Anyone here on Clondine? I am reading good things about it, and it is a non-stimulant medication.
Clonadine would probably only work for hyperactivity but i doubt it would work for thinking. If i remember right its a blood pressure medicine that calms u down by lowering blood pressure.
I see. It is not for attention/focus etc? Any non-stimulants apart from Straterra that you know about?
I’m on voxra and equasym. My doses are very low because of my antipsychotic medication. I hear they don’t go well together.
I get no help from my adhd medication.
Clondine doesn’t work on attention/focus/working memory issues?
I read that it works on the whole ADD spectrum.
They prob have some like strattera now. I havent taken adhd medicine in so long i have no idea anymore. I only ever took ritalin, concerta, and i think adderall. I did really well on ritalin and concerta mixed with haldol tho. Thats how i finished school.
I need a non-stimulant. Way back in time I took Ritalin. It worked on focus like magic. It was unbelievable, but I landed in the hospital and soon on clozapine.
What about Guanfacine? Is it any good?
Never heard of that one
i take atomoxetine as adjunctive with my antipsychotic to improve cognition at low dose 10mg/day. i didnt notice any worsening of my symptoms of schizophrenia while taking it.
I was on atomoxetine or strattera aswell. 80mg a day. Didnt do anything helpful except make me sweat more profusely it seemed to me. Ive never been prescribed stimulant adhd meds but tried them out a lot. They actually help a lot in numerous ways. But no one will prescribe them due to my sza.
Me too. I was prescribed adderall xr pre psychosis. It was like night and day, as I was finally able to function properly. Eventually it contributed to my break and had to get off it. Gonna talk to my doc about non stimulant options next month
@angledangle I have taken it. It will help with emotional cognition most.
@irrelevant That is only partially true, hyperactivity is what mainly it works for it does kind of work for thinking theoretically, not like stimulants do for motivation.
something like
Amphetamine > methylphenidate > Bupropion > Atomoxetine/?Viloxazine? > Clonidine/Guanfacine
