Anyone got better from negative symptoms of psychosis? I think I might be getting better. Been feeling like washing every couple of days.

I use supplements to help with negatives symptoms. There are meds out there that help as well

Exercise gives me enough will power to associate with people, otherwise I sit in my room all day until I find a job. Music helps.

mine were never as bad as some people on here but they improved decently when i started abilify

I’m on abilify for negative symptoms seems to be helping a bit. I have no positive symptoms only negative. Never heard voices etc.

I feel like Invega has helped me with negative symptoms.
Also after I started drinking a tiny bit of coffee, I’ve been able to be more alert and energetic, without overdoing it.

Abilify as well, and very many walks. Short walks, long walks, I walk to interviews and to work, I walk everywhere. Harder to do now, as I suffered what looks like a small stroke and I move around in a crutch, but then again, looks like it’s not the speed or the exercise themselves that help, it’s the change of surroundings and the mental effort to cope witht that change.

After a walk outside, I come home able to do stuff, with less sadness (no more time to feel sad as this and that needs to he done) and more able to focus and express what I feel.

Tried SSRIs and that is how I found out I was Bipolar, as in DSM V bipolar became the only mental illness where manic episodes can be SSRI induced. But tbh, before the dose was doubled, the SSRI did wonders to my ability to express emotions, I learnt I had muscles on my face I didn’t know I had…

I had an SSRI enduced mania, I’m wondering if I’m misdiagnosed. They said paranoid sz cost I said I heard reptilians. That’s it lol

If you actually heard reptilians it sounds more like psychosis. I was just all jumpy, on top of the world and couldn’t sleep, not enough positive elements to justify a diagnosis that would’ve involved psychosis as a symptom.

Bipolar type 1 can have pshycosis similar to sz though.

Indeed. But in Bipolar psychosis is the result of manic mood elevations or (rarely, I find, never happened to me) depression, and doesn’t come by itself, whereas in schizoaffective disorder and other types of sz psychosis comes onits own.

My pdoc asked me to study Schizoaffective disorder versus Bipolar, and those were my findings and she agreed, at the time I thought that the paranoid element in my two psychotic episodes made me qualify for sz rather than bipolar (even though I couldn’t find any scientific support for that theory), but she said that was irrelevant, psychosis is what it is, but put me off SSRIs, as I was not feeling well anymore, and increased my abilify. Nevertheless, bam I had the manic episode due to the SSRI she prescribed and was too late to take me off of, so there was no more doubt about it, I was Bipolar I.

Well, all downers aide, at least you found the truth! I love bipolars, they are the most fun people I’ve ever met.

My negatives are better. I don’t know how it happened but it happened… Although I still suffer from them I am able to work and ride my bicycle.

Some days are better, some days are worse. It depends.but most of my days sucks with negative symptons
