I hear colors in music. The note g is purple, for example. I don’t literally see them but see them in my mind’s eye. But one thing that actually makes sense is how the 7 chakras of meditation line up with how I see personalities.
For example, if someone is green that means they are full of love. Or yellow (solar plexus) means that person has a lot of common sense. If someone is purple they usually are full of knowledge. The colors can change depending on their mood, as well. Sometimes the colors can take on a dark or light shade depending on how their personality is in general.
Reminds me of the song “Bold as Love” by Jimi Hendrix. I guess it’s a form of intuition. Anyone else experience something similar?
Synesthesia is synesthesia by default as in simply an overlapping of the mental faculties, so that information is funneled from the sub level up into the mental faculties which normally would not have received the information in that form.
It’s kind of like trying to get your graphics card to process audio.
In scz just idle information is processed into socially imperative information. The sound of a radio or a car passing by, the sight of a TV or somebody else, the warmth of the body or basic bodily functions like a muscle spasm etc can be processed as being “socially imperative.” In other words the TV talks to ya, the body warmth is someone invisible, and so forth.
That is a form of synesthesia if I ever did hear of it.
I have synesthesia
I hear music as colours, in fact, most sensory input has colours for me, so I often end up totally mis-guessing smells or tastes because the colour reminds me of another smell or taste.
Occassionally I’ll get the taste-color one as well. One time I took a puff of my friends vaporizer (called it a puffalator at the time ) and it tasted “pink”. I also “see” music as moving around in a dark space in my mind. Or if the music is done a certain way the space will be foggy or have a shade of color to it.
It can get confusing when I think about it but I love the color aspect of it. During my first psychotic episode I literally saw music coming from the speaker on my phone as vibrations in the air. It was actually kind of cool.
