Hey my names kevon, I’m trying to quit smoking as I find it helps my delusions/hallucinations improve. I’m just wondering what your tips/advice/stories/struggles etc are?
There’s a book by Allan Carr, “Easy Way to Stop Smoking”, that thousands upon thousands of people swear by for getting them to quit. If you search for the PDF you can find something but I can’t quite link it here.
10,000,000 people have used it to successfully quit smoking. His seminars have something like a 95% success rate.
Wow, that’s incredible.
Thank you so much @naturallycured
Wow thanks a lot!
I quit in sixth grade. I loved that first puff during recess but you can only steal so many cigarettes before you realize, "These filter-less Marlboros are not for me, I’ll stick to the vodka and tequila.
It will be 3 years on October 2 since I’ve had a cigarette. I quit gradually but do it the way that suits you the best.
I quit last year
the most important thing is standing first two weeks then things gonna be better
it also helps in hallucinations and delusions reduction by not interfering your meds any more
I wish you good luck
you can
I did well with champix/chantix. Easiest thing I ever did. Made me a bit upset in the stomach early but didn’t even finish the course and I just stopped smoking. That was nearly 9 years ago!
In 5 days if had 5 smokes. My last cigarette I had tasted so gross no more cigs for me. I also been on nicorette patch and spray for 5 days
I quit cold turkey six weeks ago. Cold turkey is hard, but it’s probably the best way to go.
Thanks for the advice chordy, yes I’m trying to quit gradually too. It’s been going pretty good so far went from like a pack a day to maybe 5-6. Still chippin away at it
That’s what I did. I smoked 5 a day for months, then I went to 3, then 2, then one. I’d smoke half and save half. Then, when I was down to just a couple of puffs a day, it was no big drama to quit. Every once in awhile if I think I miss a cigarette, I take in deep breaths of air is if it were a drag off a cigarette. It serves the same calming purpose. Best of luck to you. I admire your courage. chordy.
True, I guess it depends on one situation. I’ve only been smoking for about a year so it’s not such a bad habit for me. I kinda enjoy smoking anyway so I may just try to get it to where I have one once in a while. Thanks!
ok But every time I think I want a cigarette, I think of all the bad things about it and having a cigarette - there’s just no contest. It’s not worth it, the price, the smokey room, the dryness in the lungs, the demanding addiction of it, the scowls from friends. I could go on.
Quit cold turkey in February they say it’s the best way to do it.
I’m coming up on four years smoke free. The thing about drinking water during the detox is it might actually help flush the toxins. Yeah, I’d recommend some water drinking.
Jayster
I too quit cold turkey years ago.
It is the best way to do it.
Cold Turkey here too. I finally quit in May 2011 after 35 years of smoking. I tried tapering off but that didn’t work for me. My breathing was getting bad, and I just wanted to get it over with. I just found out November 2017 I have mild emphysema, so it’s good I quit when I did. The best advice I can give is when going through withdrawal pain you have to keep in mind it will go away after a while. My symptoms eased up after about a month though they weren’t completely gone for several months.
