Anyone eating less and losing weight on anti psychotics?

Just changed from Clopixol to Aripripazole since couple of days. Eating less and the scale says I’m half a stone down. Anyone else had similAr experience?

I go to my pdoc every 3 months, and my regular doc every 1 month. So this month my weight at the regular doc was 5 pounds more than the last appointment (before the holidays) but 5 pounds less than my last pdoc appointment. After Christmas I really tried to lose weight by eating less sugar. I’m on Invega. So technically I lost weight but in the long run I didn’t. Futility.

You just stopped the Clopixol injection. So the injection would still totally be in your system.

Yeah I know but I’m on aripripazole to and in some people that causes weight Lois.

Apriprizole is abilify right? I gained weight on that one, but it’s not nearly as bad as geodon has been for me.

I’m losing weight but my hunger is a dragon and I’m just a knight trying to slay it.

It’s abilify yes. I’ve read it causes weight loss in a small percentage of people and read the same online.

I lost 30 pounds when I switched to Haldol

I’m sure it does, it just didnt for me.

That weight loss would be nice but I can’t tolerate the restlessness of Haldol. And I can’t tolerate the dry mouth of benztropine either.

Well when I was taking Zyprexa my weight maxed out at 330lbs when I came down with diabetes. I switched to Risperdal and my weight went down to 260lbs. But I’ve been holding steady at 260, unable to lose any more weight.

When I was on olanzapine I went from 50kg (off medication) to 73kg.

Then I was put on latuda and went down to 63kg.
I was around 63kg for quiet some time then I went down to 55kg .was 53kg when I was barely eating breakfast and lunch then went back up to 55kg and now golly knows but I think I may have put on 5 kg again in just one month.
My birthday I was given cakes etc and I put on two kg then to 57kg and now I may have put on even more weight.
My stomach is huge and jiggly.
Good news is I am still normal bmi.
I want to be 50kg again or at least 53kg but I might have to eat less than normal tiny amounts to be that.i did not even succeed when I was exercising five times a week.

I’ve lost 6-7 kilos since December and I’m on Invega shots, Mirtazapin and Wellbutrin.
Been using an app on the smartphone called Lifesum. It counts the calories you eat.
Wanna recommend it!

Does your scale really readout in stones?

Personally, aripiprazole made me start gaining weight after using it for a few years, about 15 kg. Its effectiveness was also lost, so I switched to ziprasidone (solely because I could not afford what I was being prescribed before this). I’ve been consistently losing weight, about 5 kg a month, because my appetite is greatly diminished.

On respirdal I gained about thirty pounds in a couple of months. I switched to abilify and gained ten pounds but over the course of a year or so. Overall I went from 125 pounds to 168 pounds. After a while I decided to try harder to diet and ate 1200 calories a day and lost 20 pounds in less than a year. It was hard but I did it. It is possible to lose weight on antipsychotics. My weight has fluctuated since then and since then I switched to vraylar but a couple of days ago I weighed 138 pounds. I found personally the longer you stay on antipsychotics the easier it is to adjust to them and lose weight while taking them

I put on 10 lbs. over the holidays and haven’t been able to take them off. I’m staying steady at 160 lbs. but, I’d like to be down to 150 lbs. or lower. I’m counting calories and exercising every day. I’m really at a loss as to what to do. Outside of walking up and down my apartment building steps or throwing in some daily burpees. Or cutting down my cereal, lunch and dinner portions from one cup to .75 cup. Or maybe limiting eating times to from 7 am to 7 pm. Yes, I think I’ll try all of that.

When I first started I was taking Olanzapine and the Haldol injection and went from 164lbs to 190lbs. I went to the gym almost everyday doing sprints, lifting weights and I couldn’t lose the weight. Eventually once I quit my medications I lost all the weight I had gained. Then once I started getting the Invega Sustenna shots I was at 183 - 184lbs and eventually with diet and excercise I skimmed down to my normal weight of 164lbs.

I recently was taking Mirtazapine for my insomnia and gained 11lbs and weighed 175lbs. Once I stopped taking it I’m slimming down again. It’s been a pain in the ass but I haven’t given up so far. So yea it’s possible to lose weight on antipsychotics depending on which one your taking.
