Haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) testing to diagnose diabetes
An HbA1c of 48mmol/mol (6.5%) is recommended as the cut off point for diagnosing diabetes. A value of less than 48mmol/mol (6.5%) does not exclude diabetes diagnosed using glucose tests.
It’s not a blood glucose test by the looks of things.
Good luck - Metformin is a good - safer diabetes/prediabetes drug to try, if you need meds.
I am currently on Metformin and it helps lower blood glucose levels and it is relatively safe.
"Shortly after our last pass at this topic, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) published their long awaited Consensus Statement on antipsychotics and obesity and diabetes (Diabetes Care 27: 596-601, 2004). They essentially came to the same conclusion as TCR, ranking in this way:
Clozapine/Zyprexa (worst for weight gain/diabetes/hyperlipidemia risk);
Risperdal/Seroquel (intermediate);
Geodon/Abilify (little or no effect)."
Who knows though…
Although it gives me a little comfort, as I’ve switched back to abilify.
@Wave also the measurement of glucose is done differently looked at that is in the U.S. Than it is done in other countries. You are right for the numbers for our system, it is not the same in the UK.
