My a1c is 5.9 but my fasting glocuse is 86. Does that mean im not prediabetic anymore? Im wondering if my daily consumption of soda is raising my over all blood sugar level by spiking it but i am not diabetic
iirc the glucose level is in that exact moment, the a1c is an average of glucose levels over time, so maybe there are certain times when glucose is higher that is increasing the average. i dont really know tho
I was drinking a lot of soda. According to google there are some medical conditions that can cause it too
yeah, could be the soda, as thats like pure sugar, i guess you just gotta monitor the glucose until enough time has passed to know if nothing else is affecting it
They were putting out huge boxes of candy at work for months for anybody to take. I ate tons of candy for about three months and my A1C shot up to 10.3 and my fasting blood glucose was 240. I got put on metformin and I stopped eating candy and watched my diet and my next A1C reading was 6.2 and may blood glucose was about 120. So yes, eating or drinking a lot of sugar can raise your A1C and affect your blood glucose. I don’t understand though, 86 is low, why are you worried about your blood sugar spiking? It doesn’t seem like it’s spiking.
5.9 is pre diabetic. 86 is normal.
Im just confused how my a1c is prediabetic but my fasting glucose is normal
Your fasting glucose is circumstantial to the moment its checked, whereas A1C is moreso your overall. Quite possible.
@Moon did you reduce your soda intake or replace with diet-soda, and have you upped your neat water intake at the same time?
Yes as soon as i saw my a1c i dropped soda and started drinking jeut water and tea
