Any one from states USA help please

I’m from uk and if I move to United States how do I get my visa and how much will I need plus as a schizophrenic do you buy your meds plus do you get a welfare at all how much is it and do they offer homes or housing money for rent etc help I wanna move to America

Hmmm you might want to check with your local immigration department in the U.K. and see what they say.

In regards to the U.S. you can check the State Department’s website for free.

You are crazy (or crazier) if you move from UK to USA when you are on assistance. The UK mostly treats those who are disabled with respect. In the US they grind the disabled into the dirt and then they really get down to the business of making your life hell.

@anon4362788 am I wrong here?

Everyone in the USA deserves better. Maybe one day we’ll get it.

Moving the the United States is expensive. I did it 20 years ago and getting a green card is a long process and it’s easier if you’ve lots of money. Your also not eligible for social security so you need a good job and health insurance and support from my experience.

I get $700/month in the USA. My mortgage is more than that. An apartment where I live is over $1000/month. I can’t get subsidized housing because there’s an over 10 year waitlist. Luckily I’m married, but my husband is disabled too. We don’t qualify for free Medicaid which is free healthcare. We pay a lot for healthcare. We avoid a lot of healthcare tests and items we need due to lack of funds. If you’re disabled, and get help, stay right where you are. Trust me!

They take good care of me. But I was in the US military for over 26 years.

Agreed. Good advice here.

I highly doubt you’ll be able to get a visa and welfare benefits. For a visa there is usually the criterion that you don’t put a burden on the health system, but even if you pass that for welfare benefits there is usually a residency requirement. For some benefits you will have to have contributed to the system.

Maybe you can go for a holiday to the US if you’re that keen to see the country.

Literally posting again to emphasize america does NOT take care of its own disabled citizens in most cases. Youre lucky if you get approved for disability quickly, sometines at all, and even with my social security plus working and free healthcare i was living paycheck to paycheck. And now theyre taking away my social security because (according to my lawyer) the judge decuded to be petty.

I’m sorry to hear that the legal system is doing that to you. It sounds cruel.

Honestly if you are LGBTQ+ America is absolute garbage.
If you’re disabled it’s also garbage.

Genuinely I’m trying to figure out how to leave for somewhere better

That’s a problem in Canada. We have a housing crisis now and the government just keeps bringing in more immigrants without any plan for where everyone is going to live.

I think someone made a mistake when I got benefits. My mom filled out my paperwork because I was not in my right mind. I got a lot of benefits, medicaid and Medicare, and money from the years I worked. I shouldn’t be mad at my mom anymore.
