I like that one about washing clothes.
Off the top of my head I can’t think of any old wife’s tales about new years. I’m boring.
I know you’re supposed to eat greens and black eyed peas for money and luck.
That’s all I’ve heard of.
The clothes thing is interesting.
We do just black eyed peas for luck. And I hate them with a passion. XD
If you’re going to puke from drinking too much it’s good luck to spew facing Northeast.
When I was a kid, my mom would stand on a chair and jump off right at midnight for the New Year. I’m not sure if that’s a German custom or just my mom’s family’s custom. My dad never did this and both he and my mom were from Germany. I googled it just now and found that this is maybe a Danish custom???
Haven’t used paper calendars for years. All of our clocks are smart and change on their own.
That’s really cool.
My Mexican side of the family has a custom where you wake up with an empty bottle of tequila, your girlfriend’s shoe, and your wife throwing plates at you.
LOL!
Nah, I’m j/k.
I DID somewhat base that joke on a true story though.
“Oh ■■■■, which way’s northeast?!”
