I read today nowadays emphasis is on cognitive symptoms. But sexual problems n lack of motivation are unfortunately still ignored

I tend to agree with you on the sexual side - but I know that many researchers understand the motivational aspects and hope their new medications can help in that. The sexual side effects really vary a lot by person and medication - as many people here will tell you. Don’t give up - there may be a medication out there that works for you.

The cognitive issues seem to be the big problem that prevents a lot of people from working - so I think that is why that has gotten a high priority. Once people can work at a higher rate - I think that “might” help the negative motivation side of things, though nutritional supplements might also help with that, as could therapy (CBT for psychosis or CBT for schizophrenia).

To be hopeful is a good thing. But they are taking decades in development of new medications. Abilify was developed in 2002. Since then no much productive output.

You could try the supplement sarcosine. Doesn’t hurt to try.

Yes sarcosine helped me a lot with motivation. It helped to get the motivation ball rolling so to speak. I started doing things I enjoyed with the help of sarcosine, and it picked up more momentum as I did more of it, and now I have lots of motivation. I feel like I’m wasting time if I’m not involved in my work (freelance web design). I believe even if stopped the sarcosine now, the motivation would stay.

Half the battle is finding a suitable hobby though.

Wish I could find something that would help with the lack of emotions though…
