Does iti-007 have efficacy for treating negative symptoms. I don’t understand what makes iti-007 so special. Do you know of any pipeline medications that treat negative symptoms?
Hi @eduvigis
The company behind ITI-007 is called Intracellular Therapies. They claim that it has some efficacy against negative symptoms but it was not their primary endpoint during studies. So we can’t tell for sure yet.
Other products in the pipe for negative symptoms:
MIN-101 (Minerva Neurosciences) -> phase 2
SEP-363856 (Sunovion Pharma) -> phase 1
And possibly:
OMS824 (Omeros) -> phase 2
Encenicline (FORUM Pharma) -> phase 3
Do you have negative symptoms? I know I do and it’s hell on earth…
They at least know the reason we have negative symptoms now so one of these new meds should help.
Where did you read that they know what causes negative symptoms? From what I gather, scientists are still in the dark and it disturbs me a LOT. I’d give 10 years of my life for a cure…
Well they think it’s glutamine that’s why they are targeting glutamine receptors if I’m not mistaken. I personally think it’s lack of dopamine that causes .
Yes there are many preclinical studies on the glutamate receptors, but it hasn’t been translated to humans yet… except maybe VU0409551 which should be in phase 1 now… We’ll see.
Im waiting on encenicline.I have significant cognitive impairment.
There are several other drugs in development for cognitive symptoms. See here:
Latuda is good for cognitive symptoms. I’ve been on it, and it lived up to it’s billing.
İ m not sure that invega sustenna works for everyone but since i took this drug my negative symptoms completely lost.only bad side effects is sexual dysfunction.
That’s great to hear! Me too! I posted something about this very thing earlier today but got minimal response. Thanks for verifying that it’s not only me @Ocean-spray!!
Latuda helped me with cognitive but I still don’t brush my teeth as much
Sorry @cactustomato, but Latuda didn’t help me with avolition or other negs either. I’m on Invega and a low dose of Abilify and feel so much better with my motivation. So it’s probably a matter of getting what you can out of what med you are on. Because off Latuda, my brain is back to blah a bit.
I won’t take meds that cause a lot of weight gain because I’m already overweight. I’m blessed I don’t need clozapine
They claim to have finally found a mouse model for negative and cognitive impairments of schizophrenia. And it comes down to dopamine dysfunction, as predicted by @cactustomato
Time will tell.
