Following antipsychotics may increase your anxiety at high or medium doses because all of them are anti-serotonin. This does not mean everyone will get anxiety, I’m on clozapine and my anxiety is intense. Only benzo helps
I’m on 800mg of Seroquel but I have to take a benzo, atavan, for my anxiety. The med that gave me the most anxiety was Risperdal.
İ think you have to add aripiprazol too because it is making anxiety and panic attack also.
I was on quetiapine and it actually helped my anxiety slightly, didn’t help anything else though
Abilify made me anxious, zyprexa too in the beginning, it caused nighhmares. Haldol though is like a sledgehammer, it knocks me out and kills all my thoughts and emotions in half an hour, including anxiety. Just 0.5mg lessens anxiety and delusions enough to function.
None of those drugs caused me any anxiety, but clozapine destroyed my balance so badly I couldn’t walk. As far as as I know, no one else has had that effect.
How much Ativan do you take? Do you take it every day?
Paliperidone made me have intense anxiety when I first started it. Now I am used to it, I don’t really feel any different when I take my meds now.
Paliperidone actually has the opposite effect for me: it takes away most of the anxiety I used to have

Yes, 1 mg. I’ve taken my maximum dose before, it knocked me out for months. So I just take it whenever I need it.
I need Ativan also but my Dr. is worried I will get addicted…
My doctor hands it out like candy. I kid you not. I have horrible anxiety so I have to be on something. Don’t know if that means I’m addicted, but I know I can’t function without it. Before I had crippling anxiety and this has been a lifesaver.
Ativan has saved me every night. I need to wean off of it though. It’s hard to get refills.
I really want to take Ativan like everyday if possible. I have a better day with it.
On Risperidone I have times of more anxiety where I peak and need to stop and control it. It is controllable. But isn’t it come and go? Do you have constant high anxiety @clinic ?
i never knew olanzapine could make anxiety worse i always thought it was supposed to help because i felt alot less anxiety when i started taking it before but still had semi bad anxiety maybe just felt like less because it wiped out most of my psychotic symptoms which cause alot of anxiety for me
i wanted to try haldol because of how quick and powerful its effectiveness is but my doc didnt want to put me on it because of risk of EPS
I totally hated haldol before. I had real real bad responses on regular doses.
It is my prefered med now though. Mainly because the others i tried were even worse. But also, i can take a baby dose with little side effects. When i get a flare up of delusions i can take more for a few days and it works immediately and strongly. I know what it does, so i can play with it.
It is really strong - just 2mg and i sleep like a baby all day. Which is good when you want to acutely stop fear, less good if you want to have a life.
