The ideology of Communism is flawed because of the command economy which is derived from it. However, the one-party state government is what makes a country adopting this form of government successful such as the Communist Party of China.
China’s communism is not communism

Yes, China has reformed the government to be as the name terms “Socialism with Chinese Characteristics”. And yes again that the economy is state capitalism not a free market economy which is laisez faire capitalism.

Those Chinese officers are probably correct. The “Great Leap Forward” and the “Cultural Revolution” stagnated the economy and starved many Chinese people.
During that time, the CPC just won the Chinese Civil War and were trying to establish themselves from World War 2 and the Japanese invasion.

The Chinese Civil War continues to this day thanks to the Kuomintang’s protectorate, the United States. Don’t be surprised if there is a military conflict between China and the US over Taiwan.
