Good article, thanks @firemonkey
Great article. I actually bookmarked that one
Yeah, a really good article.
Thanks @firemonkey
I feel that I am too empathetic sometimes and it hinders me. Probably because I work in the medical field.
@dougRN, empathy and compassion are needed in healthcare. My daughter and I have had horrible experiences with sociopathic doctors and nurses. They are incredibly mean. They were mean to my daughter when she was only 2 years old and from then on until we found a dr who took us seriously and she got the treatment and surgeries needed for her health. They also have mistreated me terribly my whole life. Whatever you do, please don’t let yourself burn out and turn into a mean sociopath with no regard to the health and care of others.
Oh God no I wont turn in to a sociopath. I just feel that sometimes I get manipulated.
I’m so glad. I hope you find skills to help you not get taken advantage of, but also to remain compassionate and empathetic
Thanks @LilyoftheValley yeah I have seen people that could very well be sociopaths working in healthcare. There was one nurse when I worked in psych. I felt bad for his patients. I was a new nurse at the time so never got a chance to stand up to him.
I’m glad you recognized it. I understand why you couldn’t speak up at that time. Hopefully you’ll be in a better position if it happens again
Excess of empathy? I should be the sanest person in the room then.
Hmmmmmmph.
Im now doing clinicals for my fnp for a disadvantaged community and I love it.
That’s awesome! I’m happy for you!
Thanks @LilyoftheValley yeah It gives me a sense of accomplishment.
