Am I happy?

A substance of the brain called dopamine produces happyness, and my meds inhibits dopamine. And I was very happy before taking my meds, so here goes my question: it is true that dopamine inhibitors can make me feel unhappy?

They can cause a lack of pleasure (or is that just a negative Sx of the sz?), so… Maybe?

probably. that’s why meds make my anhedonia worse. and when I am on the verge of psychosis I feel happy again.

Maybe you should try vraylar, rexulti or abilify. Those APs work to regulate dopamine so you don’t have too much or too little. The vraylar I take helps me not feel as many negative symptoms as other APs have caused.

Happiness is not just a biological truth, but also a spiritual and emotional truth.

I’m on three different dopamine inhibitors, (AP’s), and I’m perfectly content and happy. So, I don’t think AP’s make a person depressed. If anything, they can lift the mood if you are down. AP’s are mood stabilizers after all.

I’ve thought about this as well, because i felt happier in my psychosis even though it was harming me to be that way. I felt euphoric and more high than I do now. I’m on new meds and I’ve noticed myself feeling more pleasure than when I was on Risperdal. Now I’m on Seroquel. I have feelings again. So that’s a plus.

Yeah I find Seroquel better than the antipsychotic I was on before in that regard as well.
