Do I just run it on the computer that has the physical connection and it will protect the entire network?
Or just on the computer I want protected, which uses wifi?
Or it must be all computers on the network?
Just your computer, I think. Your connection.
Depends which service. I run half my network through NordVPN. It’s setup on my DHCP server which devices are pointed to it.
@insidemind and @shutterbug
Thank you! It’s Private Internet Access. I THINK it is just on the one I use. It’s just that searching “how do I use vpn” results in how to install it, not which computer.
Edit: I found a page that said to use it on the one with the router… but… that computer is usually asleep to save power. I think I’ll just use it on my computer. Thanks guys!
Most companies provide a client package that can be run on an indivudual computer, but will also provide instructions for running it on a router. My home has two routers. One is configured for NordVPN and I’ve set my DHCP server up to send some clients to it so we can dodge GeoBlocking on Netflix on some devices. The others, where this isn’t needed, go thru the primary router.
PIA needs special hardware in order to do something like that. Anyway, this is baby’s first vpn that I’m paying for 39.95 1 yr. Just need that extra security so I don’t feel like I’m an open target. Alright, one computer install it is.
Again, thanks both for responding!
I think you can get both. I would just go with a software version though, it is a lot easier.
If you are tech savy though, the BBC set up a guide how to do it with hardware. It gets quite complicated though.
