i started hearing voices at night at age 7 but im not counting that cause i believe it was mostly normal. but the paranoia started at 9. was hospitalized at 11 and diagnosed with psychosis (later schizophrenia) and was put on APs at 11.

That’s really young. I had symptoms as a young teen, emotionally unstable childhood, counselling as a teen, suspected sz at 17, psychosis at 17, hospitalization at 19, finally started taking meds at 31.

This might be taboo to say here…

But I had some very weird experiences when I was a very small child… And later in my life before diagnosed…

Idk that I can chalk it up to psychosis.

But I won’t deny that it could have been symptoms…

Not taboo… what kind of experiences?

“Super natural experiences”

Or at least that’s what I’d call them I suppose.

When I was a child I would wake up at night and see ghosts. Hypnogogic hallucinations.

First time I saw a ghost I was about 8 years old

It was my great grandmother from my step fathers side

She sat at the end of my bed and we talked

In a perfect world all of the results for each poll should be the same.

That there is quite a bit of variation in the results likely shows mental health services are not as effective as they should be.

If health care is to save lives then these polls should be identical

I’ve never been asked questions in that way before

Sort of shows that it’s a bit of a slow motion car crash

I was first hospitalized when I was 24.

I’m surprised that some people were put on APs in their early teens. Is it standard practice to put young teens on APs in the US @irrelevant ?

I was never hospitalized for mental illness. I was put in a holding cell for a few hours, technically for misdemeanor traffic violations. (Edit) And, I wasn’t allowed to drive for 2 years, except to and from work. My mother called it “house arrest.” (/Edit)

no not really. its probably more common now than it was in the 90s when i was put on them tho.
