Just wondering how old everyone was when they were diagnosed with sz or sza. I was 20 years old. 6 years ago. I started getting bad symptoms at 19, but as a teenager at the age of 14 I was diagnosed with MDD with psychosis. My psychosis as a kid was very mild compared to how it developed at 19/20.

I was 25 when I got diagnosed with schizophrenia but I’ve been sick since I was 23.

Early 40’s. That time was somewhat of a blur because of psychosis but, 41 maybe? I think my symptoms started to get fairly prevelant when I was 40 and just got worse until I was diagnosed. I then had a period of rest at a home for mentally ill and drug addicts with no place to go. I got out and awhile later started to get delusions again, and these got worse until it led me to hospitalization and Invega.
After this was my longest period of stability since being diagnosed. Many years until February 2023 when I went into pscyhsosis again and it took me about 3 months to get back to normal. The 3rd episode was the weaker, less dramatic, and shorter of the 3 but still not fun.
Long answer for just asking when diagnosed, I know. Sometimes I carry on…

- April 2006. It came out of nowhere I started hearing “The Man Behind the Desk” and left an X-Men game on a pile of clothes to signify to my mom that I was leaving and being recruited. The Police and Ambulance picked me up that night!

I was prodromal and paranoid three years before I was full blown and dx’d at 35…I am 62 now…come a long way, baby.

A little loopy in my teens but the happiest person, first started in my 20’s, inaccurately diagnosed in my 30’s, then psychosis went blitzkreig in my 40’s

I was 38 when I was forcibly hospitalised for the first time. I turned 39 in hospital. So I was either 38 or 39 when I was diagnosed.

37 when I got diagnosed. I was 35 when I started getting hallucinations, delusions, and paranoia.

Mine started when I was 16. I had my 21st birthday in the hospital where I was diagnosed.

I was 37. But I have been treated for mental illness since I was 16.
At 12. I asked my mom for a therapist
She said no, here’s a journal. Write in it, it’ll help you.
So I wrote in it. But then she read it and punished me for what was in it
I stopped writing in it.
I attempted suicide at 16 and started getting help then.

I got diagnosed in 2012 I believe at 22/23 years old. I got diagnosed with schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder…
19 yrs old,sz. 22 sza. Went through severe depression. My first med was abilify. Strange times.
Started having problems when I was 11? Don’t remember well. Anxiety got bad.
First episode at 15. That’s when I started taking meds. I was lucky to meet doc who didn’t put a label on me.
I am 30 now. He says what I experience these days is bipolar.
