Aesop's Fable 20 June 2017

The Fir Tree and the Bramble

A fir tree was boasting to a bramble, and said, somewhat contemptuously, “You poor creature, you are of no use whatever. Now look at me. I am useful for all sorts of things, particularly when men build houses; they can’t do without me then.” But the bramble replied, “Ah, that’s all very well, but you wait till they come with axes and saws to cut you down, and then you’ll wish you were a bramble not a fir.”

Better poverty without a care than wealth with its many obligations.

Yeah I didn’t love the fabled line In italic at the end either! It was asking people to change their nature too much and practice Too much acceptance. I did like the story tho.

exactly… plus when ■■■■ hits the fan the bramble and the fir are both used and abused and often left dead… the firs gather the brambles to themselves for protection so many brambles die for every one fir… medieval war was most harsh on the poor…and look it hasn’t changed a bit… but I really did like the story too…

Screw being a tree… better to be the wood cutter in the fir house… unless you can be an ent…always pick ent…

no offense @anon9798425 ents is not regular trees… I re edited the edit…

My beautician is an old lady who has doctorate apparently and she told me the other day when I was talking about prostitution esp 17-20 year old girls in some island I visited

she said ’ you know the worst enemy in this world is poverty. Every problem comes from poverty, keep that in mind, it ruins everything’

what’ do you think?
