âNo more than 45 daysâ says the article.
I have lost 2.5kg in a week and a half. It is the only diet that has worked for me.
How many people have died of obesity related issues compared to this single solitary example comparison?
Being on a 1200 calorie diet plus exercise didnât work for me, so what choice for a diet is there?
Short term keto at least gets results and it is better to be a healthy weight in these covid times than not at all.
Go figure, a diet that was made in the 1920âs for epilepsy isnât healthy for everyone.
This article is not very well researched. High proteins are always necessary if someone if weight lifting. The body can burn fat or carbohydrates as fuel. If the body isnât burning carbohydrate, then it will burn fat. The fact this article made headlines, as with any news making headlines, is an indication that the occurrence is rare, which makes for a more sensational story. This person most likely has pre-existing kidney issues, causing her death.
What were you eating? Theyâre finding that processed foods (e.g. Marie Calendar crap) are absorbed so readily that they should be counted as double the calories.
I already said it here but my physiology teacher said that long term keto diet is dangerous, can result in coma or death because the brain canât use fat efficiently as energy.
The brain canât use fat as energy efficiently.
Thatâs not the first case of death, my teacher said that there was cases of coma and death back in 2014.
It can use ketones but thatâs no where near the efficiency and stability of glucose. I think long term keto makes you tired. Really the best way to lose weight is low fat low-moderate carbs high protein diets coupled with lots of physical exercise.
oi my gfs friend has been doing that diet for like a year. Ill have to tell her to not do it
@MrSquirrel
mostly super grains or rice with a piece of meat plus small portion of sweetcorn or ratatouille, shredded wheat and two slices of fruit bread.
The rice or supergrains were healthy but microwaveable for convenience.
Nothing unhealthy!
I lost weight at first, but then it stopped after a few weeks.
I really canât sustain keto. Iâve tried. Itâs just so hard for my body too hard.
Anyways I might give it a go for one or two or three weeks in separate intervals to catch up with my weight loss plan in my diary.
On high protein diets:
Thatâs if you overdose on protein supplements.
Of course you shouldnât take too much of anything, even water. Ever heard that too much water can kill you?
I had no issues with low fat low carb high protein diet. I just had one scoop of whey isolate daily for years, was 135lb until sz, no issues or anything abnormal in regular blood tests (Every 6 months).
They natural diet for cavemen was âAnything they could findâ. This is, not a diet that was restricted in any way.
The problem with diets is we have yet to have tools that will determine what a right diet is for an individual while the medical orthodoxy and media keeps pushing dubious cookie cutter claims. Keto can work if itâs right for you, so can paleo, and so on. The problem is the only way to find out is to try.
The too much protein thing and kidneys had been debunked by science. It simply turns into glucose if you eat too much. That is not easy to do because protein is highly satiating. What we have more prevalence of is protein deficiency. If we didnât, then we wouldnât have old people wear diapers. Muscle wasting results from protein deficiency as protein is the building block of muscle and organs.
To make a new diet just make a word that ends with âoâ or âeoâ. Have you tried the new whaleo diet? You eat whale blubber til you puke and lose weight just like the innuits!! No but I am trying the snaileo diet, its where you eat snail scum for 6 weeks and then rub salt on your face for a week, a famous actor endorsed it so I will follow it blindly. Obnoxious laughter
Actually I learned in my physiology courses that ketones are the least good form of energy to the brain. Its unstable and not as efficient as glucose. The brain is not built to be on ketones long term, only short term. Thatâs what my teacher said.
I am just saying what my teacher said, he has a PhD but I am sure a Dr knows more. Personally I wouldnât do it long term. Anyways carbs and sugar are my life and I canât stop them lol
As a rule of thumb as long as carbs are limited to fifty grams per day one will be in ketosis.
Im back and forth on keto. For me it is one of the least sustainable lifestyle changes Iâve tried due to the severe restrictions. Same reason I didnât make vegan work, although too be fair I had no intentions of making vegan work long term. Ive found I workout better and have more energy when eating complex carbs at the right times, but thats just me personally and I dont speak for everyone or their experiences.
A lot of people love being in a state of ketosis, but the results I experienced werenât worth it for me. On paper it doesnât sound healthy, but my knowledge isnât even considered amateur on keto.
All things being equal I would do keto again over going back to my fast food everyday diet.
