Abilify is $242.00 with my insurance, $12.00 without

I checked with my insurance company and my pharmacy. The pharmacist confirmed my copay with insurance is $242.00. She said they charge $12.00 for generic Abilify without insurance. I’m planning on asking my pdoc to switch me from Zyprexa to Abilify. The pharmacist assured me I would not have to pay more than $12.00.

I would definitely try for the $12 medicine. I only take inexpensive meds so I can afford them. Good luck!

Do you live in the united states? If you do theres a program called Good RX and you can look up coupon codes and prices at different pharmacies before you go. It’s really helpful. Cuts the cost of my Geodon down from $400 to $40 out of pocket without insurance

Typically, health insurance in the usa does not really help with generic drugs. The copays are usually well above the wholesale price of the generic drugs. (The insurance does help a lot with non-generics.)
As mentioned, GoodRx and other programs, provide a price closer to wholesale. A person can use a coupon or just submit a card to obtain the price. The patient can research prices at each drugstore at GoodRx.com .

I always try to get generic because its the same med just with a different brand and look. Its the same chemical, why pay more? I pay 7-18$ for my meds. Risperdal is cheapest, 7-10$ and Latuda was 18$. Latuda is not generic but here in Canada the government pays 75-80% of meds price.
