My pdoc is searching for a new med for me, since haldol kind of sucks the life and joy out of me. She first proposed Xeplion and now Abilify. I tried it before, but it didn’t drag me out of acute psychosis and I was somewhat restless, but definitely not as much of a zombie as on other meds, which is good. My pdoc wants to try if it does work as a maintenance med now I’m not psychotic.
I want to try it. My only problem is that she wants to put me on the maximum daily dose (30mg!) right from the start, and I’m extremely sensitive to meds. I’ve already read that 30mg isn’t more effective in clinical trials than 10mg, so I don’t feel like starting so high.
So I wanted to check here… those with Abilify, what dosage are you on?

30 was very uncomfortable. 25 was the ideal dosage for me. Until I took it in conjunction with another med. now I’m down to 10 mg. But when I was on only abilify and klonopin too, 25 mg was a good dosage because it was more effective than 20 but not as uncomfortable as 30 mg. My .02.
Had to come off abilify because gave me unbearable anxiety which is a shame as it was good for positive symptoms and no weight gain
I am with @Goyankees on this one. I am currently on 25 mg of Abilify and it works like a charm for me. I was put on 30 mg at some stage but it knocked me out, made me confused and I had a lot of muscle twitching.

I’m only on 10mg. There’s some research saying that >15mg is no more effective than 15mg. It’s all trial and error. If it were me I’d want my doctor to start me on 10mg and work my way up.

I’m on 25 mg Abilify and 200 mg Quetiapine. It’s trial and error. I upped the dose 5 mg every second week.
I will be on Abilify Maintena 400mg, next month, I already bought the injectable, for now I am on 150mg of Xeplion and 5mg of Abilify. Without Abilify I was in a bed all day always depressed. I am very curious an anxious until the end of May.
