Is this ADHD related? Finding it hard to look at lengthy You-tube videos, films etc in one go . You watch a bit then stop then watch a bit more and stop etc etc. It’s like it’s too much effort to watch it all in one go.
Abilify has limited my attention span…I find it very difficult reading even marginally long text or watching tv and movies.
Yes, I have this too. I was diagnosed when I was like 20 so two years ago, and it’s gotten better with amphetamines, but still, whether it be schizophrenic symptoms or ADHD, my focus is still pretty poor. I can only read something for like 15 minutes max, and even at that, I have to take short, few second breaks.
Whether it be ADHD or other cognitive issues, so many things were missed and therefore help and support never given. Instead i was treated like I had a major character defect because the average mental health professional is clueless when it comes to spiky cognitive profiles. I blame myself too. I was too passive in mentioning things to mental health professionals. I expected them to be intelligent enough to know, and help, without being told.
I am undiagnosed (though suspected), but I find it extremely difficult to focus on lengthy books as well, not just movies …
My daughter has ADHD, and according to her, she will hyper-focus on something (say, cleaning) and do fine, but the second a distraction comes along, she loses her momentum and is all over the place.
Hope this is appropriate enough for the thread.
What’s it supposed to be saying?
I think it’s describing another aspect of adhd which is impulsivity.
Regarding books and stuff, I struggle wit that too.
Tbh I think many of us on aps do. Aps reduce dopamine, and one function of dopamine is attention.
I can be quite impulsive at times, but wouldn’t like to say that it’s at a clinically significant level.
I have actually improved in this area over the last year
Think it must be from the clozapine
