Not big things. Just little incidents and pleasant surprises. People being nice to me, paying bills, taking care of nagging little chores, or nagging business that I put off too long. Cruising around in my car listening to the Beatles White Album on my CD player, feeling cool (and lucky), enjoying the weather and the trees on my way home from work.
My janitor job is cool. The novelty wore off after being there 4 years but now I am at the stage where I am comfortable with my co-workers and the soldiers and I can relax. My job is a great place to socialize. I don’t get into deep conversations (well, kinda actually) but I am used to people being friendly around me. AND, one guy brings in doughnuts every Friday morning and I get to have a couple. I grab one sometimes while I’m vacuuming and I will eat the doughnut with one hand while vacuuming with the other, lol. Can you imagine that, lol? And they pay me $14.00 an hour to do this!
It’s starting to dawn on me that the rest of my life may be like this. That my symptoms will not be that bad and that I will just have a pleasant life. Of course bad stuff still happens occasionally but why dwell on it? Now I get Columbus day off from work so it’s Saturday but I don’t have to be back to work until Wednesday! Yeah, I can get used to this.
I feel the same about my life… had a friend give me 6 dollars out of the blue and tell me to get myself a beer. Hah…
Another friend gave me money to buy minecraft so I could play it with him… funny stuff.
but yeah… I have a good amount of respect at my place of work.
I tied one guy for most deliveries… I got the award for most multi-order runs… and there is only one driver who is faster than me out of the whole lot.
I’m just a cook now… but I just get to stand around. I’m trying to treat my neighborhood like a village. Transiting mainly on foot and being more resourceful in the immediate sense of getting my needs satisfied without driving anywhere.
A bit you might appreciate @77nick77 got a couple cute waitresses working at the same resto just a couple blocks from my house… I’ve already left both of them smiling pretty fully at me.
Hah… village life for life.
You’ve always been an inspiration @77nick77… Appreciate the simple things… even the most “insignificant by standards” type folk can have a supreme amount of character and really bring a lot of charm to life… in fact… it’s always been the gas station attendants or graveyard shifts employees who always do.
Take care man. I know you are coming out of a rough patch… so I’m glad you’re back in a stable state and things are looking up.
Great to hear you’re in the “lucky” club 77nick77 ! I’m beginning to feel like that more and more too. Fingers crossed for both of us that it continues.
Certain people have interesting minds on here. You are one of them. I learn a lot from you and I even occasionally apply it in real life. Yeah, we have some interesting philosophers on this site. I’m working on being one of them, lol.
