I just do what I want at work

Lol, I’ll talk to anyone there at my janitor job… I’ve been there five years. I talk to women and I talk to men. I talk to the pretty women even though its usually briefly. I talk to people I’ve known for 5 years, I talk to the soldiers who just got transferred to our building that day.

Our lobby was packed every day this week with soldiers in uniforms who are there for classes. ( I work in an Army Reserve office building). I wandered through the middle of twenty of them, looking at everybody. Some people greet me, some people move out of my way. I crack my jokes, I eat the donuts they put out for their co-workers but they tell me to help myself. I don’t know how much longer I’m going to last there but I am determined to have fun until the job ends. I may last another 5 years, I may get fired tomorrow. Its been one heck of a ride there. I’ve learned a lot.

I thought I was done there 9 months ago when my fatigue and my bad back slowed me way down. I told my sister I was quitting because I was so slow and I thought I was a detriment to my boss and the company. My sister talked me out of it and so I’ve stayed there despite the BUNCH of bad stuff that happened to me last year.

Yep, the Comeback Kid alright and his sidekicks Tonto, Robin, and Cheetah.

Best job I’ve ever had and the socializing is great for me. The pay is great, the perks are great and the hours are great. Best job I’ve ever had. At age 56 I haven’t given up. I’m happy and content.

And hungry, it’s 2:00 am and I will be in bed shortly. I have to drive up to the college at 11:00 pm today to discuss some stuff with a counselor and register for my next class. My current class ends in a a couple of weeks and than I will have two more classes to go for my degree.

I looked into the jaws of schizophrenia many times and stared it straight in the eyes but I survived and thrived and conquered. And laughed.
Hmm, sounds like a dime novel from the 1930’s when my dad was a kid, lol.

Anyways, there’s hope for us. Good luck to everybody. Sayanara.

Awesome Nick. Inspiring to read. I’m just a young guy at 29 and at times wonder how far I’ll make it or if it’s all worth it.
But these reads show it can be worth it

Cheers

i always wanted to be janitor because it seemed like a no-socializing-needed job. I want one of those jobs.

Thank you very much Turtle.

i like reading your posts. you seem to really love your job. its good you can socialize with people at work. i normally didn’t get along with my co workers when i worked at a big name retail store. except one person. anyway it was hard for me to talk to people when i was first getting sick without mental health. when i was pushed to full time i had a hard time keeping up with the other employees because i was easily distracted by voices and paranoia.
