A little confusion on diabetes test strips

I’ve had numerous conversations with my pharmacy about having my diabetes test strips covered. Last I talked to them, they said my test strips are not covered. Before that they said something like they would only pay for 1 or 2 strips a day because I’m not on insulin. Now they say that none of them are covered. I have been buying my own.

Looking online, however, I see that medicare part B is supposed to cover 80% of test strips costs if both doctor and supplier are enrolled in medicare. I’m going to try to sort this out with my doc at next appointment, but I’m not sure how else to proceed to get this sorted out. Maybe I need to go to a different pharmacy for them?

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Medicare part B paying part of their test strip costs. I don’t think my part d is going to cover it.

There’s a lot of red tape between my doctor and the insurance company.
I don’t need the hassle so I pay for my diabetes supplies on my own without insurance.

That’s what I’ve been doing as well, but I am trying to avoid it if at all possible.

Never mind people. I talked to a different pharmacy and got it all sorted out. I just need to have my doctor send them a script over and I should be good.
