Darn… Just changed mine. Thanks!

I find my google email account which I hardly ever use has become a receptacle for spam(people trying to sell stuff) and semi spam(ie lots of emails from petition/charity sites). I think the former was because I used the address a few times for newsgroup postings via google groups. Although google identifies a lot of spam and filters it appropriately there’s still a lot that gets through and their spam filtering could be much better . Every month or so I spend 30-40 minutes clearing spam/semi spam from the account.

I use Google for Play Store and this site only, so the impact is minimal.

Here’s a slightly more reputable link.

google not quite hacked

They know the addresses impacted, less than 2% of the addresses impacted were active addresses and they’ll notify the active accounts impacted. But it was not a security breach on Googles end.

More reputable, yes, but since your linked article was posted only 3 hours ago, it wasn’t available when I posted this thread. Additionally, there is nothing new in your article or contradictory to the article I linked.

I would hope so since they were published to the web

Neither the article I linked nor I myself ever said that Google was hacked.

Oh Malvok, you are so seeing criticism where there was none. I was merely supplementing what you posted with more information because yours was a few hours old. Sometimes you can assume the best of intentions in people.

I checked all my e-mails here:

One was compromised, but it was the one that was stolen out of Adobe’s database some time back. I had changed the password on it even before they had a chance to e-mail me and let me know my account was one of the affected. I rotate all passwords every three months now, so that was about four password changes ago.

Thanks for the heads-up Malvok. Can’t be too careful.
