25 years clean and sober

Today is my AA, CA, and NA, birthday. No crack, no other drugs, no alcohol for 25 years. I admit I have not been to a meeting lately but that doesn’t mean I can’t go to my home group this Sunday. Yeah, I was heavily addicted to crack for almost four years and I also did my fair share of drinking not to mention the occasional pot smoking. I don’t miss drugs at all; I have done stuff in my sobriety that I never would have done if I was on drugs. I’ve flown across the country a few times. I was Best Man at my dads wedding, I attended school for 5 years, I’ve been camping, water-skiing, jet-skiing, parties. Both my sisters trust me enough to give me a key to their houses. When I was in my active addiction they had to beg for my dad not to lend me his car or give me money. No more knocking on all my neighbors doors begging for crack money. No more lying, stealing, using people, manipulating people to get drugs.
25 years ago I was part of the problem. Today I’m part of the solution.
I wish all those people who are struggling to stop drinking or drugging, “Good luck”.
It is not impossible to quit drugs or drinking. I’m proof that recovery can be a reality

Congratulations! I haven’t drank in three weeks. I had a year and a half of sobriety about twenty-five years ago.

Hey Crimby, is it your birthday today? Someone on here is having a birthday today.

That’s more than how old I am. You were getting sober before I was born. To think that it took 18 more years before I was even getting high for the first time. Now I’m getting sober…well I’m undecided on it but for now I must be sober.

Booyakasha! Respect. Big up yourself. Keep it real.

This post made me really happy.

Like Mark Twain said about smoking cigarettes - It’s easy to quit. He did it all the time.

Wow, Nick that’s so great! You’ve got some strong willpower and lots of concentration for all those years of college! That’s a long time to be sober, and it’s wonderful that you haven’t returned back to those other times. Glad you prefer sobriety! Good on ya Nick, Take care!

amazing Nick
Think I broke my 6 yrs sobriety before I had access to the Internet, and I’m a newcomer again
No big rock bottoms just a desire now to not waste any more time slipping in a downwards direction

This time I’m older but ■■■■ me I have been selfish and up myself
