I wanna go on a lower potent antipsychotic but none of them work

I’m skeptical about cobenfy too just saying

I’m curious as to where you got those numbers from. I can’t find this and I’ve queried some good AIs that are excellent for searching medical info.

I asked Microsoft Copilot and it said

The claim that ā€œ1 in 4 people on antipsychotics develop Tardive Dyskinesiaā€ is not entirely accurate. Research indicates that the prevalence of Tardive Dyskinesia (TD) among individuals taking antipsychotics varies depending on factors such as the type of antipsychotic medication, duration of use, and individual risk factors. For example, studies suggest that the prevalence rate of TD is approximately 20% to 30% for individuals taking antipsychotics43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa16205443dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054. However, the risk can be higher for older adults and those on long-term antipsychotic treatment43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054.

So 1 in 4 seems a fair assesment.

My research said it is for those who have been on older APs for an extended period. Those who are younger and who are not being exposed to the older, more dangerous meds, have a much lower risk profile.

I read its still 1 in 5 for newer antipsychotics use

It doesn’t seem like 1 in 5 schizophrenics on here get TD.

Were a drop in the ocean on here

Still, if TD was that prevalent, you think it would show up here. I’ve been on this site for 15 years and out of the hundreds of people I’ve interacted with, very few mention TD.

This is why I refused my last Abilify injection. APs are not safe to take long-term, they’re just not.

If you have severe psychosis or schizophrenia then maybe you should take them long-term otherwise you should not do, and you definitely should not be forced to

I’ve been on meds 44 years, never developed TD.

Cardiovascular disease and sudden cardiac arrest and heart abnormalities is a lot higher for people on antipsychotics

That includes patients with depression and bipolar and adhd taking aps

That might be due to lifestyle choices like being sedentary, overweight and a bad diet.

That’s pretty amazing, I’m guessing you’ve been on low doses

In the beginning I was on high doses of a first generation AP until I my doctors slowly lowered my dosage. Than I was put on a second generation AP and these last few years I’ve been on an Invega Injection.

Thats a lot of data i couldnt follow it sorry

Yeah but basically the conclusion that ive decided is

  1. Yes there are significant risks to health and cumulative med increases increase these risks
  2. I feel like ive no option but to remain on meds but i will refuse any further med increases by Pdoc
  3. Thats it basically, if i came off Aps my quality of life would be even worse

Where do you get these numbers from?

I have never read about this?
