ZINC supplement might be very good for our stuff. for me it is. read this study!

I’ve had very good results with Zinc (25 mg elemental zinc daily, which is a very safe dose and well within what someone can take safely >>to my understanding<<) and then I also found this study, which also says it’s a good idea for schizophrenia. take a look at it for god’s sake. This is only the results after 6 weeks. Maybe the dudes got even better after that who knows? note that they gave the same dose of Risperdal to both groups, but the ones who got additional Zinc got moarrrr better. Of course this should work together with other AP’s. I see no reason why it shouldn’t. it works for me with my zyprexa… (it doesn’t have to be zinc sulphate, there are better zinc supplements out there, like ororate and other stuff).
Efficacy of Zinc Sulfate as an Add-on Therapy to Risperidone Versus Risperidone Alone in Patients With Schizophrenia: A Double-Blind Randomized Placebo-Controlled Trial

This paper is also very relevant:

The Emerging Role for Zinc in Depression and Psychosis

Quote from paper:

This is relevant to the risk of schizophrenia, as a 30–50% reduction in brain zinc content is demonstrated for early onset cases compared to control samples in postmortem samples (Kimura and Kumura, 1965; McLardy, 1973). The expression of the schizophrenia phenotype may reflect interactions of prenatal zinc deficiency with other risk genes, and/or ongoing deficiency following birth. Studies on zinc deficiency and zinc supplementation in relation to psychosis are summarized in Table Table22 and are discussed in the following sections.

Nice find.

Checked my multivitamin and it’s a little light on the zinc. Might have to switch.

I take a zinc supplement every day. I know zinc is good for hair and nails, but I didn’t know this.

Its also possible that the 6mg risperidone (which is on the higher end) was simply too much, and the zinc supplementation reduced the effect of risperidone by increasing horomone/neurotransmitter production, effectively making it like taking 4 or 5mg which maybe was a more appropriate dose

And thus reducing negative symptoms more than risperdal compared to baseline? And then there is my experience, and you totally missed the other study that said that post mortem schizophrenic brains have 30 - 50% less zinc. That’s weird way of argumentation on your side. Your argumentation is logically correct, smart, but still very very weird.

I have a multi with lots of zinc in it. Also, I am currently taking 50 mgs of zinc citrate twice a day.

I do well.
