Right, I’m not looking for people to be protected against hate for their stupidity. If something stupid comes out of your mouth, I’ll let you know, I promise. But that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t be allowed to make such content, and it doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t be allowed fo consume it.
That said, how would we even go about censoring such content? How do we determine whether something is genuine misinformation or satire? It’s not like we can rely on the public.
I’m completely opposed to most forms of censorship. I’m okay with Mein Kampf remaining in print. I’m also okay with ridiculing the goose-stepping, knuckle-draggers who view it as a guide to living.
Oh, I said “right” because I was agreeing with you about calling out idiocy, not to be snide.
edit: Well, maybe don’t be impolite, but the world would likely be a better place if we just told each other when we said or did something stupid. Some delusional people wouldn’t listen, but for the most part, we’d all reevaluate some of our beliefs.
Most of the conspiracies have been exposed already as fake, however the problem is the willfully ignorant… they are a dangerous group & my own brother is caught up in them as well
Like what evidence lol? People have seen them, I’ve seen them, there’s videos of them and documents, etc. Its a group of skeptics and the individual not seeing it or believing it.
No one’s sitting here saying that people should be allowed to incite violence and other hate crimes, but I’ve not yet explored a single conspiracy theory that does this. Maybe there are some, I don’t know, but I’ve never come across any. Censoring conspiracy theories because some people might believe in them would be like banning fast food because people might eat too much of it and get fat.
Or it’s a group of true believers convinced. There’s endless arguments for or against any of this stuff.
I’m not personally debating about aliens etc it could be about ghosts , witches, spirits you name it.
I’m just showing why YouTube choses to lean towards the censorship route for when arguments are pushed too far one way to support someone’s viewpoint bias.
Hmm… I suppose you’re right. I never really looked into the aftermath of some of these theories, and just because I’d never commit a crime because of something I found on the internet doesn’t mean that others won’t. Though I still don’t agree with the outright banning or censoring of conspiracy channels, I suppose it makes sense to implement some kind of “quarantine” on such content, like they do with some subs on Reddit.
