I think you should meet at least one diagnostic criteria for psychosis for Schizophrenia, if you had it for six months.

I didn’t like them hesitating to diagnose based on this 6 month rule
It put me in real danger to myself and other people
Prevented timely treatment

That makes sense.
It’s hard because there’s things like drug psychosis which will stop with stopping the drug. Then there’s the 20% of people who recover from first episode psychosis and don’t need meds. It’s far from an exact science and there’s issues with quality of doctors but it’s an approxamite thing anyways.
When first psychotic I was parcelled into schizoprheniform…kinda covers the bases and is used a lot out here. Later. With treatment it became obvious my symptoms weren’t going away totally so then the sz diagnosis.
